Two equally-weighted papers at Foundation or Higher tier, each two hours with a calculator and a formulae sheet. On Edexcel maths, correct answers without working can score nothing, so we build the method, not just the result, at the right tier.
Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A is tiered. Foundation candidates sit Papers 1F and 2F; Higher candidates sit Papers 1H and 2H. Both papers are two-hour written exams worth 100 marks each, equally weighted, with a calculator allowed.

Each paper is 50% of the qualification. A calculator is allowed throughout and a formulae sheet is provided. The exam rubric warns that without sufficient working, correct answers may score no marks. Exams run January and June.
None of these are about ability. Each one is a mechanism in the exam, and every one of them is trainable.
The 4MA1 rubric is explicit: without sufficient working, a correct answer may be awarded no marks. Students who jump to answers lose the method marks.
Foundation is graded 5 to 1; Higher is graded 9 to 4. Entering Foundation caps a strong student at 5; entering Higher unprepared risks the safety net. We get the tier decision right.
Each paper is 50%. A strong first paper cannot rescue an under-prepared second one. We prepare the full breadth so neither paper is a weak link.
A formulae sheet is provided, but marks are lost when students do not recognise which formula a problem needs. We drill selecting and applying the right tool.
Higher-tariff questions combine topics and are set in context. Students who revise in isolation struggle to see the route through. We practise multi-step, applied problems.
