Paper 2 is a three-hour on-screen practical: candidates carry out programming tasks on a computer and save their code, using one programming language throughout - Python, C# or Java.
Both papers are equally weighted. Grades are 9 to 1. Exams run in the January, June and November series.
None of these are about ability. Each one is a mechanism in the exam, and every one of them is trainable.
Paper 2 is a long, on-screen coding exam. Students who revise the written paper but under-practise programming lose half the marks. We build the coding fluency and the stamina to sustain it.
In the practical, candidates carry out tasks on a computer and save code with the right name and extension. Code that does not run, or is not saved as instructed, costs the marks it should have earned.
Students pick one language - Python, C# or Java - and must use it throughout. Half-learning two languages leaves gaps under pressure. We build deep fluency in the one your child's school teaches.
Paper 1 includes binary and hexadecimal conversions, two's complement and computational maths. These are precision tasks where small slips cost whole marks.
Longer questions across both papers reward developed, evaluative answers and working solutions, not one-word recall. We coach the command words and the structured responses.
