Two equal papers - one micro and business, one macro and global - each all-compulsory, mixing multiple choice, data-response and open-ended answers. We tutor 4EC1 to exactly how Edexcel questions and marks it.
Edexcel International GCSE Economics is a linear qualification assessed by two equally-weighted papers taken at the end of the course. Each has four compulsory questions worth 20 marks, mixing multiple choice, short-answer, data-response and open-ended parts.
Microeconomics, business costs, revenue, profit and competition
Macro policy, global trade and applied data-response
Both papers are all-compulsory and each has four 20-mark questions.

Both papers are all-compulsory and each has four 20-mark questions.
Grades are 9 to 1. Exams run in the June and November series. Papers can be sat paper-based or onscreen. Calculators are allowed.
None of these are about ability. Each one is a mechanism in the exam, and every one of them is trainable.
With a 50/50 split, a weak macro paper can't be rescued by a strong micro one. Students who favour one half of the course leave marks on the table in the other. We keep both exam-ready.
The higher-tariff, open-ended parts reward developed analysis and a supported judgement - not just definitions. This is where able students under-perform relative to what they know.
Data-response parts expect answers drawn from the figures and source provided. Generic answers that ignore the stimulus lose the applied marks on offer.
Paper 1 covers production, costs, revenue, profit and competition as well as pure micro. Students who treat it as 'just economics' miss a whole strand of assessable content.
Where sat onscreen, technique differs from paper - navigation, on-screen working and answer entry. Practising in the actual format prevents avoidable slips.
These are the main syllabus strands your child is expected to cover. We teach all of them, starting with the gaps that are costing marks first.
Tuition stays aligned to the exact paper or unit structure, so revision time goes where the marks actually move.

A simple four-step approach designed to build confidence, close gaps and improve exam performance.
We confirm the syllabus code, exam series and paper route for 4EC1. Everything else depends on this.
A diagnostic against the syllabus topics tells us what's secure and what isn't, so we teach the gaps rather than the whole book.
The same tutor teaches each week around school. Concepts build step by step, with the school's pace kept in view.
Past-paper questions begin early, followed by full timed papers marked against the published mark scheme.
Expert, vetted Edexcel International GCSE Economics tutors who have taught the 4EC1 specification. Past-paper work is reviewed against published mark schemes, so your child can see where marks are awarded and where they are being lost. UK-qualified teachers are available on request as a premium option.
Not "edexcel international gcse economics in general" - this syllabus, this tier and these papers.
Your child learns where the marks actually are, not where they feel they should be.
Shared whiteboard, worked solutions and lesson materials saved to review after the session.
The same tutor every week - and if that changes, we tell you first.
Share your child's details and syllabus code. We'll match the right tutor and arrange a free 30-minute demo session.
Two equally-weighted papers: Paper 1 (Microeconomics and Business Economics) and Paper 2 (Macroeconomics and the Global Economy), each 80 marks and 50% of the grade.
The main 4EC1 route is linear - both papers are taken in the same terminal series. Edexcel also offers a separate modular route (4WEC1) where units can be sat and resat.
On the 9 to 1 scale, with 9 the highest.
Yes - both papers are available paper-based or onscreen. We practise in whichever format your child will sit.

Yes. Some questions involve calculation, so we build that fluency alongside the written technique.
We replace them - free, and with no argument - and hand over the syllabus progress and known concerns so the new tutor continues seamlessly.
Yes. The content overlaps heavily; the difference is assessment shape and grading (9-1 vs A*-G), plus Edexcel's onscreen option. The free assessment maps which suits your child.
